Indigestion regularly affect over 35% of all Americans. Indigestion can happen due to eating too quickly and eating too much at one go. There are many home indigestion remedy ideas that have been used to combat the painful symptoms associated with the condition. Here are a couple of them for you to consider.

Baking soda has been shown to be a popular and effective home remedy. In fact, there are many of the indigestion remedy products for sale in the pharmacies are based on sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). By dissolving a small amount of baking soda in water and drinking it the excess acid in the stomach which causes the pain can be neutralized. This indigestion remedy is good for occasional indigestion however using it on a regular basis can lead to water retention and alkalinity of the blood which are undoubtedly much more serious conditions than the original acid reflux!

Trapped gas in the stomach makes the pain of acid reflux worse as the acid is pushed out of the stomach and up the oesophagus with more force. Therefore some Americans do their best to burp the excess gas out and so relieve the pressure and pain. One extreme way to do this is to lie on the floor on your stomach so applying maximum pressure to the area. This however is not advisable, especially just after a meal as vomiting and other related pain i.e. in the intestines and bladder, can often occur.

Continuing with the burping theme, other individuals have found that drinking fizzy beverages and in particular ginger ale helps to relieve trapped gas and so they used the drink as an indigestion remedy. While this is more preferable to lying on the stomach it is still an odd treatment and should only be tried if you know you are not sensitive to fizzy drinks i.e. if you know that fizzy drinks make your acid reflux worse then do not try this remedy in order to burp out trapped gas.

This last home indigestion remedy idea is the most bizarre. According to some, blowing tobacco smoke into the stomach of an acid reflux sufferer can drive out the evil spirits that are causing the pain. Whether this is because the sufferer is physically sick from the smoke and so expels the excess acid remains to be seen. But it sure is an idea that you may dismiss as a myth .

Fibromyalgia, otherwise known as FMS, is a medical disorder that deals with fatigue and musculoskeletal pain. The cause of FMS is still unknown but it is hoped that in the years to come strides will be made towards some sort of cure.

Patients of FMS will have aches and pains all over, with muscles that often feel as though they have been worked too hard through exercise. More women will suffer from FMS than men but it affects people of all ages. FMS is a feeling somewhat like the symptoms of the flu, with aches and pains, and a general feeling of tiredness that never goes away.

Patients of FMS will always feel as though they have no energy and will spend a lot of time lying in bed trying to regain some of that energy. The pain associated with FMS varies for all patients and includes such symptoms as shooting pains, burning of the muscles, and a constant throbbing. Some patients say that they feel worse in the morning and yet others feel their most intense pain in the evenings after being up all day.

Another symptom of FMS is much like irritable bowel syndrome, including stomach pain, gas, diarrhea, and constipation. Yet another symptom for people suffering from FMS is headaches. At least half of FMS patients will experience chronic headaches, such as tension headaches or migraine headaches. Still other FMS will have some type of sleep disorder that prevents them from getting a good night sleep. Many of them can fall asleep without any problem but they have trouble staying asleep due to constant brain activity. This sleeplessness can be related to some of the chronic fatigue that FMS patients experience during the day. However, this feeling of fatigue goes much deeper than just not getting a good night’s sleep. Many people describe the fatigue as being so severe that they are unable to lift their arms or legs.

FMS patients will be under the care of their doctor who can prescribe some medication for some of the symptoms.

If you suffer from cancer-related pain, you have more than one option for pain relief.

About one in three patients experience pain from cancer. The more advanced the cancer, the more likely it is that you will have pain and require some sort of pain management or pain relief.

Cancer pain can be severe or mild, and it can be constant or it may only occur once in awhile. As cancer research progresses, doctors have become quite familiar with all forms of cancer-related pain and with the pain relief options they can offer their patients.

Pain can come from treatments, from nerve pressure or from tumors. Depending on the severity and source of the pain, your doctor will prescribe aspirin, acetaminophen, anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen, or perhaps even codeine, or stronger medications like morphine, oxycondone, or others.

In some cases, your doctor may prescribe massage, self-hypnosis, meditation, acupuncture or acupressure for pain relief.

If you plan to use medication for pain relief, you should understand that pain medications do have side effects. You may become constipated, feel confused or lethargic, or even have hallucinations in extreme cases. If your doctor gives you a prescription forpain relief, be sure to stay in touch with him or her and let the doctor know if you have symptoms or side effects.

Sometimes, the symptoms or side effects are temporary, while your body is adjusting to the new medication, and these symptoms may disappear after a week or two. If you are taking anti-inflammatory medication like Advil, ibuprofens or other medication, with frequency, be sure to have your doctor check your blood pressure and perform periodic blood work to monitor your kidney function etc.

If taken regularly, aspirin can cause ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, so you’ll want to monitor your health and symptoms carefully.
When you talk to your doctor about pain relief, your doctor will probably ask you to rate your pain on a scale of one to ten. How severe does the pain get? How often do you get the pain? What type of pain are you feeling?

With this information in mind, your doctor will recommend pain relief techniques or medications. Remember, YOU are the patient. If you do not want to take a certain medication or you would prefer a more natural method of pain management, discuss these preferences with your doctor and ask for recommendations.

If you find that you are still not able to achieve relief from the pain you feel, ask your doctor to refer you to a Pain Management clinic or specialist. All large cancer treatment programs have pain management services and these are covered by standard health insurance policies. You do not have to suffer in silence!

If you work together with your doctor and other specialists, you can find a pain management technique or combination of techniques and medication, to help you handle yourcancer-related pain.

? Check the pollen count and if your allergic to pollen you should stay indoors when there is a high pollen count. Make sure you turn on your air conditioner so you don’t have to breath the outside air.

? Try not to get sick from colds and flues by keeping your immune system strong. Talk to your doctor for more advise.

? Make sure you don’t have dust mites. One way to ensure this is to clean your blankets, bed sheets, pillows, and stuffed toys regularly.

? Avoid spray cans such as perfumes, air fresheners and deodorants.

? Do not use humidifiers it can cause an attack

? Clean your house often to reduce the amount microscopic dust mites and particles in the air.

In conclusion you should practise a healthier lifestyle by adopting the right diet, exercise, and action plan that you planed with your doctor.

I recently finished a book about two men from Britain trekking in the Hindu Kush 50 years ago when I stumbled on a reference to Mormons. It’s always a bit of a surprise, when I’m reading something that has absolutely nothing to do with Mormons, to read the word Mormon, but it happens more often than it seems like it should. What about you? Do I just read weird books? Or are our appearance, practices, and doctrine so strange that they provide great fodder when you need examples of weirdness?
